Tehran, February 4 (Xinhua) — Indirect talks between Iran and the United States will take place on February 6 in the Omani capital, Muscat, Iran's semi-official Tasnim news agency reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, the talks will focus exclusively on Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of US sanctions.

Iran will be represented at the talks by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and the United States by Special Presidential Envoy Steven Witkoff.

The talks come amid continuing high tensions between the two countries over the buildup of the American military presence in West Asia.

The last indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States took place in Rome last May, just weeks before the Israeli and US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June. –0–
