Cairo, February 3 (Xinhua) — Iran has demanded that the venue and format of the talks with the United States scheduled for February 6 be changed so that they take place in Oman on a bilateral basis, the American news outlet Axios reported on Tuesday, citing unnamed sources.

According to Axios, Iran wants to move the talks from Istanbul to Oman and prefers that they be held in a “bilateral format, with only the US, without the participation of several Arab and Muslim countries as observers.”

Meanwhile, Reuters reported on Tuesday that Iran is also seeking to narrow the scope of the talks, limiting them solely to issues of its nuclear program.
