BEIJING, Feb. 3 (Xinhua) — China supports Venezuela in upholding its sovereignty, dignity and legitimate interests, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said on Tuesday.
He recalled that a month ago, the United States openly launched military strikes against Venezuela and forcibly captured President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
"This hegemonic action has seriously violated international law and infringed on Venezuela's sovereignty, threatening peace and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean. China firmly opposes this," Lin Jian said at a regular ministry press conference.
China, together with the international community, will resolutely safeguard the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, uphold the fundamental principles of international morality, and safeguard international fairness and justice, he added. -0-
