Moscow, February 3 (Xinhua) — FSB officers detained a foreign national in Moscow who, on orders from Ukrainian intelligence services, was preparing to detonate an explosion at an energy infrastructure facility in the Moscow region. This was reported on Tuesday by the FSB's Public Relations Center.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has detained a foreign citizen, born in 1996, in Moscow. He was involved in the preparation of a sabotage and terrorist act (STA) on the orders of a Ukrainian terrorist organization, banned in Russia, acting in the interests of the Ukrainian special services," the statement reads.
According to the information received, the suspect was recruited via the Telegram messenger by a member of a terrorist organization and, at his direction, arrived in Russia to commit sabotage using an improvised explosive device (IED) at one of the energy infrastructure facilities in the Moscow region, followed by travel to Ukraine to participate in combat operations against the Russian Armed Forces.
“A ready-to-use high-explosive IED with an explosive content of 5 kg was confiscated from the detainee, as well as a telephone containing his correspondence with his supervisor regarding preparations for the assassination,” the FSB Public Relations Center reported. –0–
