In January, specialists from the city's utilities department inspected more than 105,000 gas stoves installed in Moscow apartments. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing, Utilities, and Public Works. Petr Biryukov.

"In January, we checked the functionality and safety compliance of over 105,000 gas stoves. The inspection schedule for 2026 has been compiled and published, and information about the dates and times is posted on notice boards installed in building entrances and courtyards," noted Pyotr Biryukov.

Gas safety issues are under special scrutiny. Mosgaz specialists conduct scheduled maintenance on all gasified residential buildings in the city annually. If any violations are detected, technicians eliminate any safety hazards and provide recommendations for future operation and repairs.

The average lifespan of a gas stove is 10 to 12 years. After this time, gas valves wear out, burner diffusers become deformed, and oven insulation deteriorates. Maintaining the safe operation of such appliances is impossible, so replacement is necessary.

A gas stove must be equipped with a gas control system that stops the gas supply if the flame in the burner goes out.

Responsibility for the maintenance and replacement of gas equipment lies with the owner or tenant of the residential premises.

Annual inspections of gas equipment in residential buildings have begun in the capital.A schedule for gas stove inspections in Moscow's residential buildings for 2026 has been published.
