Muscovites can join free functional training and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) classes offered as part of the project Sports Weekend.

Functional training

Functional training combines cardio with strength training, engaging all muscle groups. This workout format increases endurance, promotes harmonious muscle development, and boosts metabolism, allowing the body to burn more calories even at rest.

"Functional training increases the body's performance, improves coordination, endurance, posture, and develops flexibility," said trainer Olga Pateeva.

Functional training sessions are held on Saturdays in the gym at VDNKh (Prospekt Mira, Building 119, Building 574) and on Sundays at the Skolkovo Technopark (Bolshoy Boulevard, Building 42, Building 1).

Interval training

Muscovites also have access to interval training as part of the "Sports Weekend" program. It alternates high-intensity exercises with low-intensity ones or rest periods.

HIIT is considered the most effective workout format for weight loss. Regular exercise helps tone muscles, improve muscle definition, and strengthen the cardiovascular system.

"HIIT is my favorite workout. Short, intense bursts of exercise alternate with low-intensity ones or rest periods, which promotes fat burning and muscle preservation. No equipment is required, just bodyweight exercises. HIIT is the fastest way to get in shape," said trainer Olga Maltseva.

HIIT classes are held on weekends at the Strogino Cultural Center (8 Marshal Katukov Street) and at the VDNKh gym.
