Kinshasa, January 31 (Xinhua) — More than 200 people were killed in a mine collapse in North Kivu province in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), media reported on Friday, citing a representative of a rebel-appointed official.
According to reports, the incident occurred earlier this week at a coltan mine near the town of Rubaya. The exact number of casualties is not yet known. Several rescued victims have been taken to hospitals.
