Minsk, January 30 (Xinhua) — Relations between China and Belarus will only strengthen, said Andrei Krivosheyev, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Journalists, at a media reception at the Chinese Embassy in Minsk on Thursday to mark the upcoming Spring Festival.
"President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko summarized the key results of cooperation between Belarus and China at a major meeting held to coincide with the development of a new Directive on Belarusian-Chinese Strategic Relations. As the Belarusian head of state noted, China is a serious and long-term commitment for Belarus. The development of these relations will only intensify," emphasized A. Krivosheyev.
He drew attention to the fact that Belarus and China have enormous potential for possible cooperation.
"These include light engineering, biotechnology, and energy. It's no secret that China contributed technology and investment to the modernization of Belarusian thermal power plants. One cannot help but recall the significant gifts from China that recently opened in Minsk: the National Football Stadium and an Olympic-class swimming pool," noted A. Krivosheev.
He also emphasized the importance of cooperation in education. "There is also great potential between the two countries in interregional cooperation and in developing the tourism sector," A. Krivosheev emphasized.
“Overall, it’s hard to name a single area where China doesn’t support Belarus, where we don’t earn money together, develop, and improve the lives of ordinary Belarusians and Chinese,” he concluded.
