Beijing, January 29 (Xinhua) — China welcomes Finnish companies' continued active investment in China, and China is willing to share the opportunities created by China's high-quality economic development, Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian said Thursday.
He Yongqian made the statement at a regular press briefing in response to questions about the agreements and results in trade and economic cooperation reached during Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo's recent visit to China, as well as efforts to further deepen bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.
According to the ministry's official representative, the visit was successful, and the parties achieved practical results in trade and economic cooperation.
According to He Yongqian, during the visit, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce and the Finnish Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening the work of the China-Finland Commission on Cooperation between Innovative Enterprises and held the 6th meeting of this commission.
Over 50 companies from the two countries discussed cooperation in areas such as innovation, green development, and the digital economy. A number of commercial agreements were signed in various fields, including mining equipment, healthcare, paper production, and green construction.
According to He Yongqian, Finnish companies expressed strong confidence in the prospects of the Chinese economy and the potential of its super-large market, as well as their willingness to make long-term investments and deepen their presence in China.
In the future, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce intends to work with the Finnish side to implement the important consensus of the leaders of the two countries, effectively utilize mechanisms such as the bilateral joint commission on trade and economic cooperation, and deepen political communication in the trade and economic sphere, the official representative of the department added. –0–
