SHANGHAI, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) — U.S. automaker Tesla has produced more than 2,000 units of commercial Megapack electric energy storage systems at its battery storage plant Megafactory Shanghai in 2025.
According to the company, Megapack batteries were primarily produced for export, including to markets in Europe and Australia.
Megafactory Shanghai, located in the Lingang Special Area of the Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone, was officially put into operation in February 2025.
The factory is Tesla's second major facility in Shanghai and its first outside the United States, marking the company's deepening investment in China.
In 2019, Tesla also built Gigafactory Shanghai, its first facility in the Chinese metropolis. –0–
