Beijing, January 29 (Xinhua) — China intends to strengthen strategic cooperation with Russia and support each other on issues affecting their core interests and key concerns, Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Jiang Bin said on Thursday.
Jiang Bin made the statement at a press conference while answering a question about a recent video call between the defense ministers of the two countries.
He noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Chinese-Russian partnership and strategic cooperation and the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation between China and the Russian Federation.
Chinese-Russian relations have maintained a high level of development, and exchanges and cooperation between the militaries of the two countries at all levels and in various fields have yielded fruitful results, which plays an important role in maintaining international and regional stability, Jiang Bin noted.
The official representative of the Chinese Ministry of Defense added that China intends to work with Russia to make new contributions to deepening the Sino-Russian comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination in the new era, and to continuously inject positive energy into global security and stability.
