ANKARA, January 29 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi will visit Turkey on Friday amid escalating tensions between Iran and the United States, the semi-official Anadolu agency reported on Thursday.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is expected to emphasize that Turkey is closely following the latest developments in Iran and that Iran's security, peace and stability are of great importance to Ankara, the report said, citing sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
H. Fidan intends to reiterate Turkey's rejection of any military intervention in Iran's affairs and warn of the regional and global risks that such a step could entail, the statement said.
H. Fidan will also state Turkey's readiness to contribute to resolving the current tensions through dialogue, to support the speedy achievement of a peaceful settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue and to offer assistance if necessary, the statement said. –0–
