BEIJING, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) — The volume of agricultural exports and imports through ports in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (XUAR) is expected to increase by 30.4 percent year-on-year to 39.5 billion yuan (about 5.66 billion U.S. dollars) in 2025, Chinese daily Xinjiang Daily reported Thursday, citing local customs data.
By the end of 2025, Xinjiang's agricultural exports reached 13.89 billion yuan, an increase of 25.4 percent year-on-year. Particularly noteworthy is the accelerated entry of Xinjiang's high-quality dried and fresh fruits into foreign markets, leading to an increase in overall agricultural exports from the region.
To facilitate the entry of more high-quality agricultural products from Central and South Asia into the Chinese market, the Urumqi Customs Office in Xinjiang assisted the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China in completing the market access procedure for 49 high-quality and safe agricultural and food products. As a result, China is currently importing dried fruits from Kyrgyzstan, melons from Uzbekistan, and traditional Chinese medicine from Pakistan.
Green channels have reportedly been opened at all Xinjiang road checkpoints bordering Central Asian countries to ensure rapid customs clearance of agricultural and subsidiary products.
Statistics show that in 2025, Urumqi Customs controlled the import of more than 500 tons of live king crabs, with a total value of 130 million yuan, which was 4.7 times and 5.1 times more than in 2024, respectively. -0-
