BEIJING, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) — China's solar power sector ended 2025 with strong growth and made a significant contribution to boosting the country's electricity generation capacity, data from the National Energy Administration showed Wednesday.
By the end of 2025, China's total installed power plant capacity reached 3.89 billion kW, up 16.1 percent from the previous year. Solar power, meanwhile, grew 35.4 percent to 1.2 billion kW.
High growth rates were also recorded in wind energy, where installed capacity reached 640 million kW, an increase of 22.9 percent year-on-year.
According to government data, in 2025, generating equipment (meaning power plants with a capacity of 6,000 kW and above) in the country operated for an average of 3,119 hours, which is 312 hours less than in 2024. -0-
