UN, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) — The UN Security Council on Tuesday extended for the final time the mandate of the UN Mission to Support the Implementation of the Hodeida Agreement (UNMAS).
Hodeida is a port city in Yemen on the Red Sea coast.
Resolution 2813 extends UNMIK's mandate for a final two-month period, ending on 31 March 2026. During this period, the mission will reduce its operations and presence while preparing to transfer residual functions to the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen.
The resolution also states that UNMIK will begin its liquidation process on April 1, 2026. The document also requests the UN Secretary-General, in consultation with the parties in Yemen, to prepare a transition and liquidation plan for the mission.
The resolution was adopted with 13 votes in favor. China and Russia abstained.
UNAMA was established in January 2019 following the signing of the Stockholm Agreement. –0–
