RN-Vankor (part of Rosneft's oil and gas production complex) has begun winter cargo deliveries via the Northern Sea Route and winter roads to the Vankor and Payakha cluster fields located in the northern Krasnoyarsk Krai. This season, the company plans to transport nearly 1 million tons of cargo.
Six seagoing vessels are deployed to transport them along the Northern Sea Route during the winter navigation period. Two icebreakers provide icebreaker assistance. The main logistics hubs for receiving and unloading the vessels are three production bases on Taimyr, the sea berths at the port of Bukhta Sever, and the fast ice at the Vorontsovo and Karaul bases.
The range of delivered cargo includes metal structures, pipes and cables, reinforced concrete products, building materials, process equipment, specialized machinery, and vehicles. These resources are essential for the construction and operation of oil production and hydrocarbon transportation facilities.
Cargo transportation by land is carried out along winter roads and ice crossings across rivers with a total length of over 2,000 km. More than 1,000 specialists and approximately 460 pieces of equipment are involved in the construction of the winter roads. The routes connect key production facilities in the Taimyr Dolgano-Nenets and Turukhansk districts of Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Cargo arriving at logistics bases during the summer navigation period, as well as year-round cargo delivered along the Northern Sea Route, are transported along these winter roads to oil field facilities. More than 2,000 trucks are deployed on the winter roads, transporting over 800,000 tons of materials and equipment this year.
Winter roads serve not only a productive but also a social function. They serve as a vital transportation artery for the indigenous people of Taimyr, helping nomadic reindeer herders maintain their traditional way of life. These routes provide tundra settlements with food and essential supplies.
