CHENGDU, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) — Two giant pandas returned to China from Japan's Tokyo Zoo on Wednesday morning, ending more than five decades of the pandas' stay in Japan.

At around 1:00 a.m. on January 28 Beijing time, giant pandas Xiaoxiao and Leilei arrived at Chengdu Airport in Southwest China's Sichuan Province and were transferred to the Ya'an Base of the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda, where they will undergo quarantine.

Xiaoxiao and Leilei were born in 2021 to their mother, Zhenren, and her partner, Lily, who returned to China in September 2024. Their older sister, the famous Xiangxiang, returned to China in February 2023. -0-
