On Huajie Street in the ancient city of Wuhu in Anhui Province, a crowd of waiting customers has already gathered at the stall of master dough sculptor Wang Jingyang.
The ancient city of Wuhu has preserved the general layout of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties: over 70 historic buildings, along with centuries-old streets and alleys such as Huajie Street and Xiaojia Alley, recreate the atmosphere of ancient culture. Intangible cultural heritage such as dough molding, sugar blowing, and iron painting come to life here. Over 300 establishments operate here, including restaurants, leisure facilities, and cultural attractions. In 2025, the number of visitors to the ancient city of Wuhu reached 12 million.
