Yerevan, January 27 (Xinhua) — Representatives of the two countries have reached an agreement on the supply of liquefied natural gas and bitumen by rail through Azerbaijan to Armenia. Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan announced this on Tuesday.
“Our businessmen can now also take advantage of this opportunity,” G. Papoyan wrote on social media.
In December 2025, Armenia experienced difficulties importing liquefied gas due to events in Iran and reduced capacity at the Upper Lars checkpoint on the border between Russia and Georgia.
Last October, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan announced the mutual lifting of restrictions on cargo transit through their territories to the neighboring country. Gasoline, diesel fuel, and grain were already being shipped to Armenia via Azerbaijan.
