Vienna, January 27 (Xinhua) — China intends to strengthen communication and cooperation with international organizations in Vienna and their member states, firmly safeguard the existing international system, and enhance the authority and status of the United Nations. This was stated on Monday by Li Song, China's Permanent Representative to the UN Office and other international organizations in Vienna.

The Chinese diplomat made the statement while delivering a speech at a gala reception at the UN Office in Vienna to mark the upcoming Spring Festival (Chinese New Year, the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year).

The reception was attended by more than 800 people, including senior officials from the UN and other international organizations in Vienna, permanent representatives, diplomats and international officials.

Li Song noted that the Global Governance Initiative offers a Chinese solution to creating a more equitable and rational global governance system, promoting the restoration of the UN's centrality and leading role. He stated that China will do everything possible to restore development issues to the center of the global governance agenda, strengthen the representation and voice of countries in the Global South, and make an even greater contribution to UN peace and development.

The Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, Gerd Müller, stated that the UN system is currently under pressure and China's role as a stable partner in the UN system is very important for stability, peace and freedom throughout the world.

Representatives of other UN agencies expressed gratitude to China for its strong support for multilateral cooperation in various fields. –0–
