St. Petersburg, January 27 (Xinhua) — The 82nd anniversary of the complete liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi siege was celebrated in St. Petersburg on Tuesday. Concerts, exhibitions, and various events were held throughout the city to commemorate the heroic deeds of the unconquered city.

Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Nevsky Pyatachok military-historical memorial complex in the Leningrad region on Tuesday, where he laid flowers at the Rubezhny Stone monument.

Later, the Russian president visited the Piskarevskoye Memorial Cemetery in St. Petersburg. In memory of the victims of the siege of the heroic city of Leningrad, the head of state laid a wreath at the "Motherland" monument.

"The Piskarevsky Memorial is a sacred place for every St. Petersburg resident. Residents come here with their entire families to remember all those who sacrificed themselves, who brought Victory closer day after day," wrote St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov on his Telegram channel.
