Almaty, January 27 (Xinhua) — Investment in tourism in Kazakhstan increased by 32 percent and exceeded 1.2 trillion tenge (approximately $2.4 billion), the Kazinform news agency reported on Tuesday, citing Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov.
According to him, 328 projects are in the implementation stage, which will create approximately 10,000 permanent jobs.
There has also been a steady increase in key indicators: the number of tourists in accommodation facilities increased by 12%, exceeding 10 million people.
Kazakhstan improved its position in the World Economic Forum's Global Travel and Tourism Development Index, moving up from 66th to 52nd place. The goal is to enter the top 50 countries, the minister said.
