BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese President Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, held a telephone conversation with To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, on Monday.

Xi Jinping congratulated the successful holding of the 14th CPV National Congress and the re-election of To Lam as General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee.

The Chinese leader expressed confidence that under the leadership of the CPV Central Committee headed by Comrade To Lam, Vietnam will certainly be able to realize the goals and objectives set at the 14th CPV Congress and achieve the two goals marking the centenary of the party and state ahead of schedule.

Xi Jinping said China and Vietnam should remain true to their respective paths and aspirations, strengthen solidarity and cooperation to promote development, and jointly strive for a brighter future.

As he noted, China is moving towards achieving the “second century goal” (comprehensively building a strong and modernized socialist state), while Vietnam has also entered a new era of national development.

Xi Jinping stressed that the two sides should adhere to common convictions, uphold what is right and introduce what is new, prevent and address various risks and challenges, jointly safeguard the cause of socialism, and consistently uphold the political essence of China-Vietnam relations.

The two sides should further strengthen exchanges and mutual learning in the field of Party and state governance, effectively utilize mechanisms such as high-level meetings, theoretical seminars, and personnel training, and continuously improve the level of Party governance and state governance capacity, Xi added.

He said the two sides should strengthen the alignment of their development strategies and deepen mutually beneficial high-level cooperation to bring greater benefits to the peoples of the two countries and jointly advance along the path of socialist modernization.

The Chinese leader called on the parties to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, jointly oppose hegemonism and bloc confrontation, and jointly promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
