BEIJING, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met with Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Hussein Ibrahim Taha in Beijing on Monday.

Han Zheng noted that the OIC serves as an important bridge for developing ties between China and Islamic countries. He recalled that in 2024, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a special representative to the 15th OIC Summit and sent a message of congratulations to its participants, thus elevating relations between China and the OIC to new heights.

According to the Vice President of the People's Republic of China, the Chinese side highly appreciates the OIC's attention to developing relations with China and hopes that Islamic countries will continue to firmly support China on issues affecting its core interests, including Taiwan and Xinjiang.

H. I. Taha, for his part, stated that the OIC is sincerely grateful to Chinese President Xi Jinping for the increased attention he pays to deepening friendly ties between China and Islamic countries and for his leadership in this process.

The OIC Secretary-General added that the organization is ready to advance comprehensive practical cooperation with China and will continue to provide firm support to China on issues related to Taiwan and Xinjiang. –0–
