MANILA, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) — Four minors were killed and three others injured in a collision between a truck and a tricycle in Isabela province in the northern Philippines, police said Sunday.

Law enforcement officials said the accident occurred Friday evening in the city of Santiago after a tricycle driven by a 17-year-old and carrying six minors allegedly made a sharp left turn and collided with a truck traveling in the opposite lane.

The victims were taken to a local hospital, where four of them were pronounced dead, police said. Three of the injured are receiving medical treatment.

An initial police investigation revealed that the tricycle was heading home from primary school when the accident occurred.

Police have taken the truck driver into custody. Investigators are working to identify those responsible for the incident.
