KABUL, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) — A total of 2,981 Afghan families, comprising 16,928 people, returned home from Iran and Pakistan over the past week, the Afghan High Commission for Repatriates' Issues said on Sunday.
All returning families received immediate assistance, including food, drinking water, medical services and free transportation to their destination, the commission said.
There are currently an estimated 6 million Afghan refugees living abroad, mostly in Iran and Pakistan. –0–
