OTTAWA, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) — Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney on Saturday called for "buy Canadian" and "build Canadian" in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's renewed threat to impose tariffs.

M. Carney posted a pre-recorded video on his personal social media account about supporting domestic manufacturing and construction to combat economic threats from other countries.

"Our economy is under threat from foreign powers. Canadians have made a choice: to focus on what we can control," M. Carney said at the beginning of the video.

Although he didn't mention the United States directly, the prime minister said, "We can't control what other countries do. We can be our own best buyers. We will buy Canadian. We will build Canadian."

D. Trump on Saturday threatened to impose 100 percent tariffs on Canadian goods imported into the United States. –0–
