Kabul, January 24 (Xinhua) — At least 61 people were killed and 110 others injured by heavy snowfall and rain across Afghanistan on Wednesday and Thursday, the country's National Disaster Management Authority said on Saturday.
According to him, the bad weather also led to the complete or partial destruction of 458 houses.
The figures are preliminary and subject to change; in some regions, specialists continue to assess the situation, the department reported.
Over the past three days, freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall have hit many parts of Afghanistan, leading to the closure of several key roads, including those connecting Kabul with some provinces. –0–
