Islamabad, January 24 (Xinhua) — At least nine people were killed and several others injured in a collision between a car and a truck in Pakistan's southern Sindh province, local police said on Saturday.
The accident occurred on the Mehran Highway in Jamshoro District. A speeding truck collided with a car, killing nine people, including women and children, and injuring four others.
Police and rescuers arrived at the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital. Two people are in critical condition.
Pakistani officials say road accidents are common in the country due to poor road infrastructure, poor vehicle maintenance and reckless driving.
