Moscow, January 22 (Xinhua) — Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officers detained a Moldovan intelligence agent who arrived in Moscow and opened a criminal case, the FSB's Public Relations Center reported.
"The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has stopped the illegal activity of a Moldovan intelligence agent. It was established that in December 2025, the Russian citizen arrived in Moscow to carry out a mission for the Information and Security Service of the Republic of Moldova, which was directed against the security of the Russian Federation. While preparing for this mission, he was detained by FSB officers," the statement reads.
Correspondence with a Moldovan intelligence officer was found in the communications equipment seized from him, confirming the circumstances, the Public Relations Center added. –0–
