BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) — China's manufacturing sector will accelerate its transition to smart and green development in 2025, and its role as the backbone of the national economy will become more prominent, according to data from the General Administration of Taxation released Wednesday.

Value-added tax (VAT) invoice data show that the purchase price of automated and digital equipment by industrial enterprises nationwide increased by 11.3 percent and 10 percent year-on-year in 2025, respectively, demonstrating the accelerating pace of intellectual transformation and digital renewal in the manufacturing sector.

Meanwhile, sales revenue in the intelligent equipment manufacturing industry increased by 28.1 percent year-on-year, while production of industrial robots and special-purpose robots increased by 17.4 percent and 42.1 percent, respectively.

The share of sales revenue from energy-intensive industrial enterprises in the total revenue of the entire manufacturing sector decreased by 1.1 percentage points in 2025. The data also show that industrial enterprises' spending on environmental management services has grown steadily year on year.

At the same time, purchases of digital technologies by industrial enterprises increased by 10.4 percent year-on-year in value terms, which is 3.5 percentage points higher than the previous year's figure.

According to the General Administration of Taxation of the People's Republic of China, in the future, China's tax authorities will effectively implement preferential fiscal policies to promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing sector, and continue to optimize taxes and fees to promote the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. -0-
