BEIJING, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) — Authorities on the Chinese mainland investigated and neutralized nearly 4,000 cyberattacks originating from Taiwan last year, a 25 percent increase from the 2024 target, Peng Qing'en, spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said on Wednesday.
Peng Qing'en shared these figures at a regular departmental press conference.
He also noted that these cyber operations were specifically aimed at stealing classified information from key economic sectors on the Chinese mainland, including transportation, finance, science and technology, and energy.
According to him, the relevant authorities in mainland China have already uncovered and made public facts of criminal activity related to cyberattacks against the mainland by Taiwanese organizations, including the military.
As Peng Qing'en emphasized, the Taiwan Democratic Progressive Party administration accused mainland China of organizing cyberattacks against Taiwan, which is a gross distortion of the facts. -0-
