The capital has summed up the results of the first two months of operation of the first Moscow Tram Diameter (MTD).
This innovative form of transportation, operating to the standards of an above-ground street metro, has demonstrated impressive popularity. The modern, autonomous "Lvenok-Moscow" trams have completed over 23,000 trips in two months of operation. During this time, they have traveled a total of 617,000 kilometers—that's more than 15 full laps around the planet.
"The First Moscow Tram Diameter has become the most popular tram route. In two months, Muscovites have taken over 3.8 million trips on it. This result demonstrates that the diametric tram route format, with its minimal intervals and modern trams, is extremely convenient for passengers. Following Sobyanin's instructions, we continue to develop the tram network and integrate it into the city's unified transport ecosystem to make trips even faster and more comfortable," noted the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport and Industry.
The Moscow Central Diameters (MCD) provides transportation links between several districts of the city and offers passengers convenient transfers to metro stations and the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD). The line operates modern, autonomous "Lvenok-Moscow" trams, distinguished by a high level of comfort and technological advancement. The new trams can travel over five kilometers autonomously, without being connected to overhead wires. On route T1, the autonomous section is located on Akademika Sakharova Avenue between Three Stations Square and Chistoprudny Boulevard; its length is 2.1 kilometers.
The first Moscow tram diameter connected 13 districts in four arrondissements of the capital and provided convenient transfers to 24 metro stations, the Moscow Central Circle, the Moscow Central Diameters, and four central railway stations (Leningradsky, Yaroslavsky, Kazansky, and Paveletsky).
The successful launch of the first Moscow Tram Diameter confirms the effectiveness of the strategy to modernize tram infrastructure and create new, convenient routes, allowing Moscow residents to save travel time and navigate the city with maximum comfort.
