St. Petersburg, January 19 /Xinhua/ — More than 120 tests of the Bogatyr-M tram car, equipped with a driverless technology system, have been conducted in St. Petersburg by 2025. This was announced by St. Petersburg Vice Governor Kirill Polyakov in an interview with TASS.

According to him, the autonomous technologies being tested are based on the active safety and driver assistance systems already in use on vehicles. As previously reported by the press service of PC Transport Systems, the city tram's active driver assistance system, based on artificial intelligence, can detect road conditions, signal the driver, automatically brake, and maintain safe speed limits.

K. Polyakov clarified that 339 trams equipped with active safety and driver assistance systems are currently in operation in St. Petersburg. An additional 261 trams with this equipment are planned to be purchased by 2030. –0–
