Hohhot, January 19 (Xinhua) — The death toll from the explosion at a sheet metal rolling mill in northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region has risen to four, with six still missing and 84 injured, the rescue headquarters at the scene reported on Monday.

Search and rescue operations are currently underway, with more than 1,100 employees from various levels and departments mobilized.

An explosion occurred on January 18 at 3:03 PM at the Baogang United Steel sheet rolling mill in the western city of Baotou. A 650-cubic-meter spherical tank containing saturated water vapor exploded.

As China's Ministry of Emergency Management announced on Monday, the Work Safety Commission of the State Council has decided to oversee the investigation into the circumstances of the explosion.
