JOHANNESBURG, January 19 (Xinhua) — At least 11 schoolchildren were killed and five others were seriously injured on Monday when a private school bus collided with a truck in Vanderbijlpark, south of Johannesburg, South Africa, local media reported.
According to preliminary reports, 11 students died at the scene, and five seriously injured students are being treated in hospital, said Steve Mabona, a spokesman for the Gauteng provincial education department.
“We will provide further details in due course, as information becomes available,” the statement added.
