Beijing, January 19 (Xinhua) — The 12th meeting of the China-Kazakhstan Commission on Environmental Cooperation was held via video link last Friday, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China reported on its official website.
The statement from the aforementioned department stated that the meeting was co-chaired by China's Deputy Minister of Ecology and Environment, Guo Fan, and Kazakhstan's Vice Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Mansur Oshurbayev.
Participants reviewed progress in cooperation since the previous meeting and heard reports on the work of the Working Group on Monitoring, Analysis, and Assessment of Water Quality in Transboundary Rivers and the Working Group on Rapid Response to Emergencies and Pollution Prevention of Transboundary Rivers. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the results of their work over the past year.
The Chinese side noted that within the framework of the above-mentioned commission, China is ready to work with Kazakhstan to continue to consolidate the results of cooperation in traditional areas, strengthen exchanges in policy, regulations and technology, expand areas of cooperation, stimulate its viability and jointly support the global trend towards a “green” and low-carbon transformation.
The Kazakh side stated that the Kazakhstan-China Commission on Environmental Cooperation has become an important mechanism for jointly discussing ecology and environmental issues, and the work of the two working groups within this commission has yielded positive results. Kazakhstan is ready to continue constructive dialogue with China on environmental protection, strengthen the exchange of best available technologies, and expand cooperation in environmental protection and sustainable development.
The parties also approved the commission's work plan for 2026 and signed a protocol following the meeting. -0-
