Tbilisi, January 16 (Xinhua) — Georgia will host over 5.5 million tourists in 2025, a historic high, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Irakli Nadareishvili said on Friday.
According to him, the number of tourist trips in 2025 increased by approximately 8.5 percent compared to 2024. A significant increase of 14 percent was noted in tourist flows from the European Union and the United Kingdom. Significant growth was also recorded from Israel, where the figure was approximately 30 percent, as well as from China.
I. Nadareishvili noted that tourism accounts for approximately 10 percent of Georgia's GDP and provides approximately 9 percent of employment, while almost 60 percent of services exports come from the tourism sector. –0–
