BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) — Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng on Friday stressed that China and Canada should make joint efforts to promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
He Lifeng, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a banquet on China-Canada trade and investment in Beijing, which he attended together with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
The Vice Prime Minister of China noted that, following the strategic guidance of the important agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, China and Canada should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, win-win cooperation and mutual success, so as to jointly promote the stable, healthy and sustainable development of bilateral trade and economic relations.
China is firmly committed to expanding high-level opening-up to the outside world and continuously developing new productive forces, He Lifeng said, adding that China hopes to work with all countries, including Canada, to open up new horizons of cooperation.
M. Carney, for his part, noted that China is Canada's second-largest trading partner. He expressed his readiness to expand high-level exchanges with China, effectively utilize dialogue mechanisms on trade and economic cooperation and other areas, and further advance cooperation in areas such as trade, agriculture, and energy.
