St. Petersburg, January 16 (Xinhua) — The explosion at the Ministry of Internal Affairs' professional training center in Syktyvkar was caused by the unprofessional actions of one of the instructors during a class, TASS reported, citing the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Komi Republic of Russia.
A flashbang grenade exploded during a scheduled training session at the Ministry of Internal Affairs training center in Syktyvkar on the afternoon of January 15. It caused a fire covering 340 square meters. The number of injured increased to 20. Approximately 200 people were evacuated due to heavy smoke in the building. Nine people are in critical or serious condition due to burns and carbon monoxide poisoning.
