Baku, January 16 /Xinhua/ — The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) officially began supplying natural gas to Austria and Germany via the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP), the European section of the Southern Gas Corridor.

SOCAR announced on Friday that deliveries, which began in January 2026, are being made to customers in Southern and Central Europe. With the start of deliveries to Austria and Germany, the total number of countries importing Azerbaijani pipeline gas has reached 16.

SOCAR emphasized that the expansion of supplies is consistent with Azerbaijan's long-term energy strategy and strengthens its status as a reliable energy supplier to Europe.

The Southern Gas Corridor, stretching over 3,500 km, connects the Caspian Sea region, in particular the Shah Deniz gas field, with European markets. –0–
