Lanzhou, January 15 (Xinhua) — Ten young people from Tajikistan underwent a three-month training course at the Institute of Politics and International Relations of Lanzhou University in northwest China's Gansu Province from October to December 2025.

Their curriculum included courses such as "Chinese Language," "Modern Sinology," and "China Overview," which helped them improve their Chinese language proficiency, gain a broader understanding of the country's characteristics, and gain a deeper understanding of the social development process in China.

In addition to the lectures, Lanzhou University organized a tour of Lanzhou (the capital of Gansu Province) for them, during which they visited the Temple of the Dragon King and a theme park, and sampled local cuisine.

In addition, a series of cultural exchange events were organized for the training participants, aimed at deepening mutual understanding between the youth of the two countries and promoting mutual learning between the two civilizations.

Chinese student representative Wang Wendong stated that intercultural dialogue is an important way to broaden horizons and deepen knowledge of foreign countries. The Tajik cadets noted that studying at Lanzhou University not only deepened their knowledge of their field but also instilled in them a love of Chinese culture. They expressed their willingness to continue contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

According to Zhu Yongbiao, director of the aforementioned institute at Lanzhou University, training representatives of Tajikistan's young elite at Lanzhou University has strengthened mutual understanding between faculty and students from China and Tajikistan. He expressed hope that these young people will play a role in promoting friendly relations between the two countries.
