WASHINGTON, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) — U.S. President Donald Trump said he had a "long conversation" with Venezuelan Acting President Delcy Rodriguez on Wednesday, adding that the two countries "get along very well."

"We had a great conversation today. She's a wonderful person," Donald Trump told reporters at the White House.

"We had a long phone conversation. We discussed a lot of issues. I think we're getting along very well with Venezuela," Trump added.

D. Rodriguez also stated on Wednesday that she had a "lengthy, productive, and polite" telephone conversation with D. Trump. "During our conversation, we discussed the agenda of bilateral cooperation in the interests of our peoples, as well as unresolved issues in the relationship between our governments," she said.

As Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, D. Rodriguez plans to send an envoy to Washington this week, Venezuela's ambassador to the United Kingdom, Felix Plasencia, as the Trump administration considers reopening its embassy in the Bolivarian Republic.

One of Venezuela's leading opposition figures, Maria Corina Machado, is expected to visit the White House that same day. –0–
