On January 8, the 24th Ice and Snow Fishing Cultural and Tourism Festival opened on Chagan Lake in Jilin Province. Traditional fishing techniques, such as hand-cutting ice holes, were demonstrated on the frozen lake, attracting numerous tourists from across the region. Winter fishing on Chagan Lake is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage and is an important symbol of the ice and snow culture of northeast China.
