Ashgabat, January 14 (Xinhua) — On Wednesday, Turkmenistan's Caspian Sea coastal services received an SOS signal from the Iranian cargo ship Rona in distress, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
"Turkmenistan's state bodies, whose activities are related to the liquidation and prevention of emergency situations, in accordance with international standards governing navigation, took all necessary measures to rescue people," reads a statement published by the press service of the Turkmen Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The agency clarified that all 14 people on board the vessel were rescued as a result of the rescue operation. According to preliminary information, these were citizens of Iran and India.
