BEIJING, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) — China will promote high-quality development of the intelligent connected new energy vehicle (NEV) sector in the next few years, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said Wednesday.
The ministry promised to develop a five-year development plan for this sector. It must be aligned with energy and infrastructure plans to provide guidance for the sector's innovative development.
The country will implement a new round of high-quality development initiatives in key industrial chains. Investments in research into key products, basic materials, and software will also be increased. Meanwhile, China will accelerate the development of key technologies such as solid-state batteries and autonomous driving.
The ministry also promised to take measures to expand automobile consumption, promote trade-in programs, facilitate the widespread use of heavy trucks in the NIE, deepen vehicle insurance reforms in the NIE, and unlock diversified consumer potential.
The ministry also plans to strengthen support for international cooperation in trade, investment and technology, which will enable enterprises to establish rational, orderly and secure overseas deployment patterns and shape a new landscape of global cooperation in this sector, the ministry said in a statement. -0-
