Construction of two dormitories for 250 and 450 students and faculty at the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University in Simferopol has been completed. Deputy Prime Minister and Supervisor of the Southern Federal District Marat Khusnullin announced this.
"The Crimean Peninsula is a dynamically developing region, attractive not only for living and tourism, but also for obtaining a high-quality education. We are purposefully creating all the necessary conditions for this, actively developing our infrastructure. A striking example is the completion of two Crimean Federal University dormitories in Simferopol, with a total area of 13,600 square meters. A certificate of conformity has been received, the facilities are fully equipped and are being prepared for commissioning, with occupancy scheduled for September 2026. The university is a major scientific and educational center in Crimea and one of the leading universities in the Southern Federal District. It trains highly qualified personnel for important sectors of the economy: medicine, the agro-industrial complex, construction and architecture, tourism, and IT. Creating comfortable living and studying conditions is a significant contribution to the future of the peninsula, its human resource sovereignty, and its further development," said Marat Khusnullin.
The dormitories are built in blocks. Each block has one or two rooms with private bathrooms, including those for people with disabilities on the ground floors. Kitchens are also located on each floor, with a gym and medical offices on the ground floor and a cafeteria on the basement floor.
In addition, specialists improved the surrounding area of the dormitories, adding landscaping and paving driveways and sidewalks. Sports grounds, recreation areas, tennis courts, and two parking lots were installed near the buildings.
"We are also constructing five educational and laboratory buildings for the university, with a total area of over 46,000 square meters. Work is currently underway on the facades of two of them—the Institute of Foreign Philology building and the Architectural and Civil Engineering Academy building. All buildings are scheduled to be completed and equipped with modern technological equipment in 2027," noted Karen Oganesyan, General Director of the Unified Customer Production and Consulting Company.
The Vernadsky Crimean Federal University comprises 13 institutes, six colleges, an academy, and a technical school. Over 23,000 students from Russia and abroad study there in higher and secondary vocational education programs in medicine and healthcare, agriculture, construction and architecture, and other fields.
