TEHRAN, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) — Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday condemned the European Parliament's decision to ban all Iranian diplomatic staff and other representatives from entering the European Parliament buildings, vowing that Tehran would respond in kind to any restrictions.

A. Araghchi made the statement on the social network X a day after the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola, announced the corresponding decision, which, according to her, was taken in response to the “crackdown on protesters” in Iran.

"More than two years of genocide in the Gaza Strip, which has claimed the lives of 70,000 Palestinians, have failed to compel the European Parliament to take any real action against Israel. Even now, when [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes, he flies freely in European airspace," the Iranian diplomat noted.

“On the contrary, a few days of violent unrest in Iran are enough for the European Parliament to ban the physical presence of our diplomats,” he pointed out.

People are not “stupid” and saw everything that was happening with their own eyes, A. Araghchi emphasized, adding that although Iran does not seek to antagonize the European Union, it will “respond in kind to any restrictions.” –0–
