Beijing, January 12 (Xinhua) — In all of 2025, the number of trains operating on China-Europe routes that departed from or arrived at the China-SCO Regional Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Zone (hereinafter referred to as the "China-SCO Demonstration Zone") totaled 1,225, an increase of over 20 percent year-on-year. These trains carried 840,000 tons of cargo. Both figures reached historical annual highs, China Central Television (CCTV) reported, citing data from Qingdao Customs.

According to statistics from Qingdao Customs, since the construction of the China-SCO Demonstration Zone began in June 2018 in Qingdao, Shandong Province, eastern China, the number of China-Europe trains departing from or arriving in the zone has reached 5,491. A total of 450,000 TEUs of import and export cargo have been transported, with the combined weight of these cargoes exceeding 3.8 million tons.

According to local media reports, citing data obtained from the zone's administration, 32 regular international and domestic railway freight transport routes currently pass through the China-SCO Demonstration Zone, linking 54 cities in 23 countries, including SCO member states and countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative.
