Havana, January 11 (Xinhua) — Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla on Sunday demanded that the United States end the illegal detention of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

“Eight days have passed since the brutal kidnapping of the legitimate President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros, and his wife, Cilia Flores,” Minister X wrote on social media.

“We demand that the US government end this unlawful detention, respect his immunity, end the judicial and media farce this process has become, and ensure his life and well-being,” he added.

“We call on the international community to join this just demand in the name of preserving international law, as well as the life, justice, and rights of President N. Maduro and his wife,” the Cuban diplomat said. –0–
